People are at their best when a job fits well with their talents, motivations and interests.Your job should be challenging and appropriate to your level, but also a touch difficult. You should be able to develop. With colleagues and a manager you get along well with. Assessments aim to provide insights to better assess which job and which organisation is a good fit for you.
The word ‘assessment’ means assessment, evaluation or investigation. For these assessments, it involves an investigation into your personal characteristics, interests, qualities, drives and abilities. An assessment usually consists of several components. Such as personality questionnaires, intelligence tests, video assessments, role plays and interviews.
Sometimes a practical assignment or a knowledge test is also part of an assessment. You can ask in advance which parts your assessment will include.Based on the information from the assessment, a report is drawn up with conclusions in response to the question. This can be done for a client: ‘ Do you fit in with this job?’ or for yourself: ‘What job suits me?’ or ‘Does this job suit me?’.
Coming to this page usually means that you will soon be taking part in an assessment. This is exciting for many people! But also fun. If you don't have much experience with this yet, it is wise to prepare well. How to do that? Here are some practical tips:
The chances that your assessment includes a test from Ixly are quite high. A large number of assessment agencies work with our tests, but also, for example, the UWV and other larger organisations.
We do our best to develop tests that are good, scientifically based, reliable and valid. We therefore have the most important tests independently assessed by the Cotan, the committee of the Netherlands Institute of Psychologists that assesses the quality of tests. Furthermore, we do our best to improve the experience, by making less fun tests as short as possible and also offering innovative tests and games.
If all goes well, you will receive a report or record during or shortly after the assessment. Read this carefully. Everyone has positive and less positive qualities.
Of course, it is more fun to hear about your positive points, but actually you learn the most from the points you can still improve or strengthen. That's why you should always take a moment to get over things you might perceive as negative feedback. A tip: also have someone who knows you well read it. Then you can ask if it is indeed recognisable. See what you can do with the feedback and what you can learn from it.
